Photos from the Grand Opening Event
The photos you’ve seen from the Greenway Council are fairly misleading. For the bulk of the event, greenway protestors vastly outnumbered anyone else in attendance. Photos by Michael P:

Our booth was full of people before the event event started

While residents are not allowed to use their own street, the greenway council was not shy about parking their vehicle on the closed down block for the duration of the event.

Half an hour after the event start, the street was empty aside from protetsors.

A full hour after the event had started, the “activities” were unstaffed, and unattended.

Protestors

Our booth and the immediate area were completely swarming with protestors.

Protestors

Basically the only people attending the event – aside from a small handful of children – were residents opposed to the greenway.

Those photos of the ribbon cutting that show a small number of people with support signs, and no dissenters? Here’s the real picture. The bulk of the people in attendance were citizens opposed to the greenway.

Yes, the greenway actually hosted jump rope activities that handed THESE out. In North Minneapolis. RUDE.

Not even neighbourhood cyclists want this! There were more cyclists protesting this, than supporting it!
